My dress that is!
I got a letter in the mail on Thursday saying that my "special dress" was in and to come in to pick it up Monday-Thursday between 3pm and 8pm. Well, it was about 4pm at the time and my Mom was at work without a way to get to my house before 7pm. Boo. So I had to wait until yesterday, Monday to go get it. Well, it was worth the wait my friends! =D The dress is even more fabulous then I could have ever expected. I was stunned by the beauty of the dress, seriously. I had no words and I still have no words to describe how much I love it.
Love, love, love! :)

The Name Game
Fun fact: the mister is going to be changing his last name prior to the wedding. No, he's not taking my name but taking his step-father's name.
His biological father has never really been in his Life, he left the family when Pat was just over a year old and was never really interested in seeing his kids much after that. Understandably, Pat really doesn't want our kids to have his deadbeat dad's name. So it's been decided that he would take the name of the man who has acted as his father for the past 21-22 years and all parties involved are excited for this big change! But how to go about it?
We first started looking into it about 3 years ago but when we were greeted with the thousand dollar price tag for all of the legal fees we decided to wait it out a bit. I mean, what's another couple of years with a name you have no attachment to? Well, it turns about it's about an added eight hundred dollars to the original quotes price. Doh!
With the wedding just over 5 months away it's time to take care of this, let's not make my name change any more difficult then it needs to be.
So how to go about this and do it right? Well, hire a professional of course! So we have begun the process of changing his name and it's going to be interesting. The attorney we are working with expects that we'll be able to have it completed by the big day, which is a huge relief.
So far she has written out the petition that she will submit as soon as he goes and gets his fingers printed at the local police station.
I'll keep ya posted as we go through this process. Here's hoping it's a quick one! :)

I've been a bad bad girl...
Or just a bad bad blogger. I am so bad at remembering to do things but I really wanted to keep up on this. I don't even have a good reason for why I haven't been keeping up on this blog. It's not like there has been much going on with me lately, I'm not even working currently! (Recently laid off, this economy sucks. I'll get to it later.)
So what's new in wedding land?
Well, I ordered my dress and I couldn't be more excited! I'm one of those girls who fell in love with a picture of a dress but none of the local stores had it in their shop. I went to half a dozen different shops trying on all kinds of dresses before I decided to just order the other dress without ever trying it on. Crazy? Maybe, but I'm completely comfortable with the decision. I tried on so many dresses that were VERY similar to THEE dress which has made not only me comfortable but my Mom comfortable as well. :) Now I just have to wait until June for it to come in and prove that it is the one dress for me.
At the beginning of February we had a tasting at Columbia Station and the food was absolutely amazing! I'm so excited and so relieved that the food was as good as it was. It's a scary thing booking a caterer without ever trying their food, so going back and having them prove that you made the right choice is such a relief. Not sure if I mentioned this before, but we are having a mashed potato martini bar and I couldn't be more excited!
Rather then turning this into a ginormous post, I'm going to end it here and promise myself that I will update more often! :)
