I figured I would start this blog to kind of chronicle my journey of planning my wedding.
So, what did he say? How did he do it?
It was actually completely out of the blue for me. I always expected to have just a little inkling but that was not the case at all! The proposal happened on December 13, 2008. We had our friend and photographer Kelly over, as well as Pat's brothers Tim and Ray, his sister Caitlyn and his nephew Timmy. The plan was to have Kelly take some pictures of Pat and his siblings for a Christmas gift for their Mom (my idea, because I am awesome!). So she was taking the photos and they made me get in a couple.
After all the pictures of the siblings were taken Pat and I decided to have a couple taken of just us, why not right? So we had a couple of pictures taken and then it felt funny being all posed like that, I was close to joking about how it felt like an engagement photo shoot. So Kelly asked if we wanted any more taken and Pat suggested that I sit in the seat we had set up for the other pictures. Then he reached in his pocket, pulle out the ring and got down on one knee. I was completely speechless! I don't even remember him actually asking the question. For whatever reason I seemed to think that it was some kind of a joke, a not funny joke but a joke nonetheless. Eventually I got it together enough to ask one of the dumbest questions a girl can ask when there is a man kneeling in front of her with a ring in his hand, "What do I SAY!?!?!?!" (Again, because I am awesome.) After Pat informed me of my line I damn near shouted at him "YES!!!!!!"
In front of his family and our friend, Pat asked me to marry him and he really couldn't have asked in a better way. The best part, those pictures up there are no reenactments. See, I said we had photographer at our house and even though she didn't know what he was planning somebody was able to tell her while I was still sitting there with my jaw on the ground to get some pictures. Pretty cool, huh?
So I'm a bride-to-be now. Let the games begin!
